Learnings from the recent digital health efforts in Germany (and from the effects of Covid)

After more than a decade of inertia, the German government has launched 2 major initiatives to push the adoption and implementation of digital services and tools in the country’s healthcare system:

• The Law on Digital Care (DVG)

• The Future of Hospitals Act (KHZG)

This presentation explains the objectives and the contents of both initiatives and how they work. It looks at the opportunities they open up for industry and other stakeholders, but also at their shortfalls and limitations. Moreover, it analyzes what still needs to be done to make digitalization broadly accepted and used in German healthcare.
